Thank God it's Tos-Day

We all have a love hate relationship with our to-do lists. We love the feelings of accomplishment whenever we cross something on them and get bogged down thinking of the other things left to-do. When the to-do list is based in London and involves seeing different people, places and friends the relationship goes from love hate to just love, and the thing we hate dreading is the end of the list. This is exactly how this week feels!

I got into London on Saturday night (yup, W&W in London) and I've been meeting new people, seeing old friends and visiting some fabulous venues and eateries. Italy has a special place in our hearts at W&W (3 out of 5 of us spent a year exploring, getting fat *yummy* and studying abroad there) so it's no surprise that I'd find myself at a Sicilian restaurant, a pizzeria and a cafe run by Italians in less than a day. For the love of (Italian) entrepreneurs and precious finds in a bustling city, here are my recommendations:

The Caponata

...located in Camden. This family started and run restaurant boasts a healthy Sicilian menu, great music venue and musicians, lots of events, a vintage market (perfect for the Camden atmosphere) and an award-winning living wall! What more could you ask for? Food:check. Music:check. Nature:check. Easily accessible: check. Coffee: check. A solace in a punk goth neighborhood, fondly known as Camden.

The Haberdashery

Bunting flags. Mason jars full of colored pencils. Vegetables from a local farm. An outdoor seating area. Tea cosies crocheted by Massimo's mum. Mismatched China. Full English Breakfast all day long. Gahhh...there are more than enough reasons to come here everyday. Found in Crouch End there are lots of shops, eateries (including a Thai restaurant called Thaitanic and a clock tower to complete a small town high street feel. This neighborhood is full of friendly small businesses, nice row houses and lots of buses to get you in and out.

Jill over and out.

Yay Summer! We're so excited you're here!

We're done with you, Winter. We've had enough of heavy coats and thick mittens, pasty skin and not enough sunlight.

The signs are true: ice cream, flip flops, sunglasses, BBQs, shorts, bikinis... Vitamin D is in the air!

Even though summer doesn't officially kick-off till June 21st, we're already shouting from the rooftop parties that it's already here. Help us coax the summer solstice nearer by celebrating with us...

We Must Say...

To our friends, family and even foes that find us irresistible,

Collectively, I think we (the W&W team) could probably say thank you in at least 10 different languages, and still feel like we could not thank you enough. But our hearts swell whenever we think of all the love, support, flowers and even cake we've received. Thank you for all of the encouraging words, faithful prayers, help, sales, FaceBook "Likes" and tweets about us. Thank you for gushing over our launch and carefully curated collection. Thank you for sharing The Wise and Wearfores with other people.

We are so excited about all the pieces we'll find for you, the talent we get to share with you and the W&W10 partners we'll get to support with you.

Thank you. Kamsahamnida. Grazie. Gracias. Salamat. Domo arigato. Spasiba. Danke schön. Merci. E' se (pronounced eh shay).

How well do you know your ABC's?

Remember learning your ABC’s as a kid? All the excitement and tongue twists as you hit L-M-N-O… The sense of achievement you got from learning the building blocks for spelling and finally figuring out what your parents meant when they said  T-O-Y-S or C-A-N-D-Y. Even now it’s hard to forget “A is for Apple, B is for Banana…”

Thanks to Ashley Buchanan and Buki Peters A is no longer just for “Apple” and B is no longer just for “Banana”. They’ve made their way into our jewelry boxes and have added spice to our closets. These two accessory designers are my go-to-girls for passionately updating my wardrobe with beautiful handmade pieces that are as fun, unique, inspiring and happy-go-lucky as the women designing them.

Ashley designs, from L to R: CHANDELIER EARRINGS, TIER CHANDELIER NECKLACE, MODERN HEIRLOOM CUFF

Ashley Buchanan graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jewelry and Metalsmithing. She mixes iconic imagery in contemporary culture and traditional jewelry. Each piece she designs is a blissful combination of vintage inspiration and modern interpretation. Her jewelry is all hand cut and finished, ready for daytime play, serious business and wherever your heart finds you. She is redefining how we look at pearls and giving us more reasons to love our silhouettes. She’s been trekking across the globe, participating in exhibitions from Italy to Georgia and her work can be seen in select boutiques in Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. Just as she’s found her way into boutiques and craft stores dotted around the globe, we know she’ll fit right into your closet making best friends with each piece that makes your style unique.

Buki's Designs, from L to R: BUTTON EARRING, PEARL BIB NECKLACE, HEAVY METAL KNOCKER

Buki Peters (formally known as Olubukunmi) started designing as soon as she could walk. She used anything and everything her hands could find inside her mother’s closet and outside of her house in Nigeria to create jewelry. Her passion and skill for making opposites attract is still evident in each piece she designs today. Buki draws inspiration from the natural world, people and her wide reaching travels. She mixes luxury material with the everyday to create playful pieces that are easy to mix and match with anything from your classic cashmere cardigan to your hipster leather bomber. Each piece she creates is a unique reflection of her personality: deep thinking, refined and fun. Her collection can range from earthy to ethereal, classical to whimsical and is sure to have something you’ll feel is your kindred spirit (if accessories could be).

W&W is proud to present Ashley Buchanan and Olubukunmi. Check out their pieces in our accessories section. Let them inspire you to dream away!
